MAY 2022
April showers bring May flowers
Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope you’re celebrating with some tacos and tequila today.
We have now entered the rainy season in Miami, and we’re starting to get more frequented showers, about which the 1,000+ plants we’ve planted throughout the venue are happy. The dualistic days, with sunshine in the mornings punctured by rainstorms in the afternoon, serve as a good reminder that each day is an ebb and flow of calm and chaos (at least when you’re working a full-time job, building up another business, and planning your wedding!).

May for us symbolizes a chance to slow down, refocus, and prepare. The days are still flying by with many items on the to-do, tours to host, projects to build, festivities to plan, etc. But we also don’t have any events in the venue this month, and we’re home for the majority of this 31-day span.
While part of me freaks out about not having events (no events = no revenue) this month, the overwhelming side of me is relieved to have a chance to catch up on the many tasks I have put off while soaking up the slower and quieter moments of the beauty that spring brings.
With that said, I am going to wrap up my thoughts for this newsletter with the below three things I have taken away from this experience over the past couple of months:
-
Weeds grow with the flowers. “April showers bring May flowers” couldn’t be a truer saying in our venue. The colors of the foliage have never looked so vibrant with all the rain we have been getting. However, with the flowers come the weeds. While a previous version of myself might be incredibly frustrated by the weeds because it’s just one more thing on the to-do, my present version accepts them and to some degree, appreciates them. Weeds symbolize growth. With no weeds, the other plants probably wouldn’t be growing either. Weeding is also a motivation for me to get outside and spend hours in the sunshine when I normally would have excuses not to!
-
Working with a wedding coordinator/planner is so important to making your big day run smoothly. While I understand from a budgeting standpoint that it may feel like one of the first things to cut, I highly recommend to anyone getting married that this is something they absolutely fit into the budget!
-
As a vendor, working with other vendors we know, like, and trust has made a world of difference when executing a special event. When our clients utilize the services of a vendor we have on our preferred list, we can breathe a little easier on the big day. We know they will be on time, deliver well, and communicate with us along the way. Teamwork truly makes the dreamwork in this environment!

It allows you to work backwards and make cuts and changes that will still reflect the overall outcome you wish to achieve. What good is splurging on one particular item if it doesn’t result in the overall outcome you were trying to create?
